You may be able to adapt one for a different model if you can't find one that is made specifically for the Savage. Years ago a few companies sold a universal fit guard that came with an assortment of clamps and u-bolts to fit nearly anything. I don't know if such things are still available any more, haven't looked in ages.

Thanks, I'll keep looking, the oem one is really small and doesn't offer much
protection at all.

Maybe find a welder who would?

modify the small oem one

Heck yeah,, never crossed my mind,, but adding length in the middle of the top and bottom tubes would be a LOT easier and cheaper than building one from zero,,
IDK if powder coating would satisfy you or if it will even stay on chrome,, maybe have it sand blasted,, heck,, powder coaters do that anyway I think,,
You may have stumbled on a pretty easy answer,,

I'm going to look into it, will let all know what I find out. I guess the Wingerline guards are discontinued from what I gather on the forum.

The engine guards were on an older Harley 883 and we were testing welds of two different methods on each side.  Not sure if I ever posted it here but man the previous owner was pissed.  Why did he even sell it if he was still attached?

Anyway, I have never had one made for the Savage although I think its a good idea.  I unfortunately am not a lot of help here but a member did once attach a 2007 Honda Rebel bar onto a Savage with minimal custom mods.

Page 44 of the Savage photos thread show it.  The setup he used looks like it would hold-up and keep the bike off your leg, although a simple post could do the same.  I guess it is just a balance between looks and function as to what you will want to toss on your bike.  Don't go cheap on the connection points or its going to fold/bend up on you.

When connecting tubes, finding a tube or slug that fits inside and crosses the joint is never a bad plan,

Not sure if I ever posted it here but man the previous owner was pissed..

You were draggin a Harley?

I dont even Like Harleys and I consider that near sacrilege.
I dont Dislike them,, but theyre kinda part of American culture,, I wouldnt feel comfortable riding one,, too heavy.. but I like seein them,,

Ohh,, dragged down a road,, a tear? is that a tear in my eye?

"You were draggin a Harley?"

Sort of.  We were dropping the front end from a trailer at speed, the rear tire on the pavement in tow, then release the front tire from the trailer at the appropriate time.

Best simulation of a bike laying over we had at the time.
