Hodaka had the Road Toad, Dirt Squirt, Super Rat, Wombat, and Combat Wombat in their lineup.
Suzuki joined in the game with the Gaucho, Colt, Duster, Apache, Savage, Rover, Intruder, and VanVan model names.

Hey, those are the bikes of my youth. I'm guilty of having owned:

'75 Hodaka 100 Dirt Squirt
'73 Suzuki TS50 Gaucho
'74 Suzuki TS125 Duster
'75 Suzuki TS185 Sierra
'76 Suzuki TS400 Apache

All great bikes. I owned all at the right time/age but the TS400. I was only 16 and it was way too much bike for me. Don't get me started on the TM's (TM125 Challenger, TM250 Champion & TM400 Cyclone) we had. Sadly Suzuki dropped the funny names with the RM's.

My dad was a long time friend of the guy that bought up all the orphaned bikes and parts when Hodaka went out of business.

I only had the Hodaka for a few months. It (or I) seemed to crack the frame every few weeks. It was a real light-duty machine. But a hella fun to ride.

How does this auto decompressor work?
Does it have a timer that cuts it out after the initial few seconds to allow the engine to fire?

Yes, it is only active for something around 200 milliseconds then drops out.

I believe it is activated for 700 milliseconds. Just enough to get the motor spinning.

If you look at the CS1 build video(s) - one of them has the wiring modifications to eliminate the decompression release controller.
