Chirping
08/13/19 at 11:50:53

Hey everyone. I got a 2012 S40 for my first bike and I am loving it. I had a tune up done (air filter, oil filter, oil change and belt adjustment) and now it is making a chirping noise. I mostly hear it in 3rd and 4th and don't hear it when in neutral. Not sure if this is enough info but I will provide whatever I can. I assume the belt wasn't adjusted properly? Thanks for any input!

The belt is too tight or your pulley bearing is worn out.

Well if you had the shop do it, most likely the belt is too tight.

Also, check belt alignment.

Also, check pulley nut is tight.
Take the cover off and make a mark across the pulley and lockwasher.
And while in gear rock the bike fore and aft and check to see if the mark has moved.

Right on Hiko.  Even just replacing the stock bearing will work...for a while.  But, sometimes the belt is just too tight.

If you do the double-wide bearing and  need a modified rear axle spacer, I have them to sell.
