Mystery Screw
07/03/19 at 11:54:13

So, while waiting for my Dyna Muffler, I decided to finally change the sparkplug. I got in there, got it changed out, and when i was putting everything back together I came across a small roundheaded Philips screw sitting on a rubber seal by where the back of the tank screws onto the bike.

I know I didnt take this screw out, and all other screws are in there correct place.

The question, is there a screw like this holding something together on the bottom side of the gas tank? thats the only piece that was up there when I was doing the job as I just slid it back while I did the sparkplug.

That screw is only used a couple of places, headlight or bottom of the bat holder.

Could have been that someone was doing maintenance (like the air filter or headlight) and set it on the seat or tank and it fell down there.

If you can't find a place for the screw you can , wait for something to fall off the bike, place the screw in your tool pouch, or toss it over your shoulder for good luck  Roll Eyes

Bat Holder?

Sure. You don't want your bat falling off at highway speeds!

Looks like the top screw for the starboard side cover. There are two screws on that cover; the one in your picture goes on the top, and there's a black one near the bottom toward the back of the bike.
