Dave 's right, the settings I found for the DR were .004 -intake, .010 exhaust . Way different than the Savage's stock .005/.005.which I would use at LEAST*until the break in period is over.

* the DR cam not having oil passages to the cam lobes faces ,and the fact that the flat face of the rocker may tend to wipe oil from the lobes due to the cams higher lift (thus higher spring pressure) I would tend to stay at the stock settings.

Pre 1996 DR650 Valve clearance specifications: IN. 0.08 - 0.13mm (0.003 - 0.005in) EX. 0.08 - 0.13mm (0.003 - 0.005in) 1996- DR650 Valve clearance (when cold): IN. 0.08 - 0.13mm (0.003 - 0.005in) EX. 0.17 - 0.22mm (0.007 - 0.009in)

Reply #8 - 07/23/19 at 10:02:51 I guess I was looking at the 96, the web page I was looking at didn't give the year . OOPS! I think I would still stay with the .005 setting in the Savage , unless the DR cam shaft and lobes get drilled to match the stock Savage cam.

Reply #9 - 07/23/19 at 18:39:45 The model years for the DR that is common for some of the engine parts is 1990-1995, and perhaps earlier for a couple of the 600 models. I was surprised that the valve specs for the DR were that much different on the exhaust.
