Another article from the Globe:

https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2019/06/24/west-springfield-man-charged-wit...

from this article:

"At the time of Friday’s crash, Zhukovskyy was free on $2,500 bond in a pending drunk driving case in Connecticut, court records show."

There's just no way to know who's in a vehicle coming toward you on a two lane highway with nothing between you and him but a couple of lines of yellow paint.

And Look At the load ahead of you.
Some guy got killed because a dirtbike came out of the pickup ahead of him.
Dunno if they ever caught the guy.

Justin, that's exactly how it happened.  The tire was so loud I thought someone shot a gun at me.  A split second later, I realized what happened as I helplessly wrestled with the steering wheel for what seemed like minutes even though the whole ordeal lasted just a few seconds.  Not fun.

Anyway, my point is we don't know what caused this accident. The driver was charged, so they felt it was his actions, but I still doubt it was intentional and I guessing he is in shock.  Negligence is different than intent.  There is no excuse for negligent behavior, but it was most likely still an accident.

This is a tragic waste of life.
In my local area there's been a rash of motorcycle accidents too. One of them a hit and run. Poor guy went off an elevated section of I95 and fell 35' to his death.

There will be always a rash of accidents this time of year.
Bikes are coming out of hibernation and cagers have forgotten they exist.
So, do your part and ride all year even though it may require snowmobile treads.   Cool

Justin, that's exactly how it happened

I've never met anyone who had experienced that. I got lucky, nobody was there.. Take comfort knowing it wasn't your fault. Let it be.
Easy to say, I know, but it truly was outside your control.

I had not wanted to comment on this because it is so awful. Now that more info has come out and it appears the driver of the pick up truck has a "history" of shall we say bad driving, I find it very difficult to not be extremely mad. I feel terrible for all that were involved in that accident and for their families. May God give the survivors the strength to deal with this.

Now that the facts are coming out.....I will no longer stick up for this fellow and his "innocent until proven guilty".  This fellow has problems and it appears he is not fixing them - and now it resulted in the deaths of 7 innocent victims.

Dave, it really is sad, isn't it.

These folks served in the service, willingly risking their lives so freedom for all might be assured, to all.

When society enables victimhood, the very action itself, produces more victims.
A good reference:  https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/women-who-stray/201406/the-culture-vi... )

Waking each morning brings with it a inherent risk......
We never know what awaits us upon this day, therefor, for prudence, know where your final destination shall be, that is as good as anyone can expect/do.

As Versy shares, a very astute observation, bikes will be ridden more, summer and looking out over the landscape, behind your handlebars, on a warm sunny day, while zipping down the road, is what bike riding is all about.......but you also must keep your guard up even more, because others are out there too, and your risk is greatly enhanced!

BE SAFE ALL.....enjoy, but stay engaged at all times!

the latest, Zhukovskyy it turns out had a record of drug(Conn.) and other traffic related arrests in six states, and Mass. DMV  dropped the ball, his license should have been revoked.
