The POTUS was elected, on the promise of, ‘Cleaning up the Swamp’, (i.e. removing the Republicans, Democrats, Independents, that are their ONLY to stuff their own pockets).
AND, as you freely admit, “Trump is doing it'
Yet you believe the people that support that, are some sort of, ‘problem’ ?
As in: “it’s that his base is loving it"

I was a little too young to grasp how emotionally charged the air was in the late 60's so I don't have a personal frame of reference to compare today with. I feel today has the potential to be worse because of social media and competing 24 hour news networks (who've both selected their color in the fight) among other influences, the entertainment culture for example.

I don't know how we pull back from the brink or even if we can.

aren't you the one that was saying, "I want a culture war." or something like that just a little while ago???
