Title: Red and Blue jerseys
Post by WebsterMark on 11/09/18 at 05:19:12

The red or blue jersey each of us wear is getting brighter, more defined. If something doesn't change soon, the Civil War that's been brewing will boil over.

I was a little too young to grasp how emotionally charged the air was in the  late 60's so I don't have a personal frame of reference to compare today with. I feel today has the potential to be worse because of social media and competing 24 hour news networks (who've both selected their color in the fight)  among other influences, the entertainment culture for example.

I don't know how we pull back from the brink or even if we can.

Thank trump.

He berates, he name-calls, he taunts and he is toxic to the reputation of the US.

You want this division to begin to heal?  Get this idiot out of office.

Trump just brought what was below the surface to the top.

The problem isn't that Trump is doing it,.. it's that his base is loving it.
How do you expect things to improve with that?.

The Right has drifted further from the middle than the Left.
Yet, the Left is the majority.
Trump won the electoral college, but lost the popular vote,... the Right won the Senate thanks to small states getting equal representation but they lost the popular vote,... the House won with gerrymandering, but lost the popular vote.
Is it up to the majority to bend?...

I could just as easily say your base isn't loving it.

And yes, sometimes it is up to the majority to bend.

If 7 lions and 3 zebras take a vote on what's for dinner, you would hope some other method existed to ensure the zebra's voice was heard. The electoral college has served the nation well, I wouldn't be in such a hurry to do away with it. The land (the less populated rural areas in this analogy are the zebras) need a voice.

Maybe you should try to listen to what they are saying.

Really?  If that's the case, then look what it's done.

Great job trump....

Lefties are going to people's HOUSES.
Yeah, it's the right that is violent.
If we were what you say we are, there would be a lot fewer lefties.

Pro-Trump groups go to peoples HOUSES too, I've witnessed piles of Hillary banners and signs being burned.  Where I live I witnessed one Trump supporter stab a guy a community meeting and get hauled off to jail.

Its on both sides, and always will be.

there are, 12 less in Pittsburgh....  I think it's safe to assume that, 1 less due to Charlottesville....

while I don't agree with protesting people's personal lives, it's an act of free speech so far, not violence from the left.

Yeah, and righties are shooting up synagogues and showing up to vote with confederate flag and noose t-shirts.

Don't even try to go there jog.

So a guy shoots up a baseball field full of congressmen, but he doesn't represent you. A guy wears a shirt and all of a sudden everyone who voted for the guy he did is racist? How does that work?

The problem is, you've changed the meaning of the word so you can lump anyone you want into that box. And you try to talk about what American is?

We've got to either stop this or just go ahead and fight.

does the guy shooting up the synagogue represent you?

It starts that jog once again calls out all liberals as "more violent".

Did you miss that?

Look in the mirror mark - you have done the exact same thing many times.

We've got to either stop this or just go ahead and fight. [/quote]

Follow your own advice.

Please explain the:
“…it’s that his base is loving it…”
part of your statement.

The POTUS was elected, on the promise of, ‘Cleaning up the Swamp’, (i.e. removing the Republicans, Democrats, Independents, that are their ONLY to stuff their own pockets).
AND, as you freely admit, “Trump is doing it'
Yet  you believe the people that support that, are some sort of, ‘problem’ ?
As in: “it’s that his base is loving it"

Please explain !
