is there a cover over this switch?  mine twists around on a single screw and misaligns with the lever push pad, parts appear exposed and the plunger not very strong.   can't find a pic either?????? what 'should' it look like please?

Better yet bypass it and toss it . It's already trained you to pull in the clutch lever before hitting the starter button, and if you start the bike while leaving the side stand down, (with the bike in neutral) it serves no useful purpose . it's a switch that functions each and every time the lever is pulled in( Both starting and shifting) so sees a lot of use ,most of the time unneeded , and may wear out anyway.

It should have a small tab along with the screw to keep it located.
It's easy to break the tab when trying to remove the switch
