Say hello to 'Bob'!

After a long snooze for a refit, 'Bob' took to the road today with aplomb.
Bob's seat is from an '02-04' model with vinyl similar to new models, and uses the standard mounts. Rear fender is plastic from a trailer, exhaust is ceramic coated, Dyna muff, Ryca top tree, lowered 3/4", has Versy, K&N, and a Ryca superbar and tach. Started up and ran as if new!

Moved the neutral and turn lights to the handlebar because I always forget to cancel them.
cheers! Cool
ps: how do I post images instead of links?

Too much traffic on my favorite twisty today to evaluate dropping the front end.
The bracket that holds the licence/lights also holds the rectifier behind the seat.
Have a couple of spare hubs, may change front/rear both to 18". Any ideas? Cool

That is one tasteful looking bike. Not stock, not a rat. It's refreshing to see a bobber that has not been fully blacked out. I con't care for that look.

Yes......if you change your rear rim to an 18" - don't get a 2.50x18 rim unless you want to run a skinny vintage looking tire.  If you want to run meaty tires - be sure to get a 3.50x18 or wider rim.

I believe the "Bobber" look somewhat requires a larger than necessary rear tire......you may not be able to keep the look if you use a tire size that would look correct on a Cafe' or Tracker.

If you go  to an 18" front wheel you will likely need to change your front fender to work with the smaller diameter....or at a minimum drill some new holes and lower the front fender.  You really only have 2 choices in front tire size 100/90 or 90/90.  I use the smaller 90/90 on my bike as it is much lighter, and also drops the front end a little bit more to help lighten up the steering.

Here is the tire thread discussion for Cafe' bikes - some of it is applicable to your bike.

Sero: I've been quoted $500 for tank chroming! Yours looks great!  The 'newer' vinyl on the solo seat turned out to be a bonus, as I really hate 'tuck 'n roll' pleats.
Dave: You are right, 18" on the rear wouldn't be 'bobberish', maybe front only.
Cheers! Cool

That is a great looking bike, a job well done.  It looks fast just sitting there.

It'a actually a '10 foot' bike: looks best at 10 feet, haha!
It'a really tough getting the stance correct: the forks are too long and the head angle is too big.
I could put more money into this getting it right, or just enjoy it as is.
My engine in a 'cb' or 'gpz' frame would be the ultimate answer and get me tubeless tires as well.
cheers! Cool
