Not sure. There's a long list who wanted Trump gone. McCain wasn't running which is why I don't think it was him. maybe someone who acted on their own but thought they were doing Jeb Bush a favor.

I can't see that. Sounds too risky. That's like sending the police to the scene of a crime you committed. Sure, if they don't find evidence indicting you, then you're scott free, but if they do, you're completely screwed. Seems more likely they didn't know Hilary was the one behind it. I think they thought they had Trump by the short hairs, but that's going to backfire.
