Just as, in nature, biodiversity brings strength is applied with harmony, cultural diversity will bring strength to a society if the diversity is applied with harmony.

What happens when the idiots who set policy don't consider that Harmony idea?

Look at what is happening in Europe.

In Nature the environment decides what level of biodiversity will work.
West Texas WAS a vast prairie. The grass swept the bottoms of the wagons as the settlers came through. Today there are old homes that Were the ranch owners homes. The number of cattle they could graze per acre was great. Over the years, mesquite took up residence. Mesquite has a monstrous root system and sucks water like a pump. The grass died. Biodiversity isn't some great thing.

You're a student of history, Pesci. Look at Rome. The various cultures that were brought under control didn't save Rome. It was part of the problem.
If diversity, in and of itself, is beneficial, then I would think that by now, mankind would have harnessed the near magical benefits to a society to become fractured and have multiple factions working toward different goals.
Your Harmony caveat sounds reasonable, but it's not being used by the people who caused the problem.

Jog; all that doesn't matter. It was just a matter of time. Islam marches forward. Gadaffi would have been swept away or he would have had to change. Saudi survives right now because it's found the right balance between feeding the dogs the Islamic fundamentalist food they need while keeping them chained up to a certain degree. That won't last forever either.

and Mpes, that last post of yours was insightful. I will no longer place you in the leftist camp. Not exactly sure what camp you're in, but you aren't firmly entrenched in liberal dogma.

and by the way, one of our US guys is in Sweden for a meeting. it's nighttime there so I asked him, while they are sitting around drinking that crap they drive over there, to stir the pot a little bit and get feedback on what's really going on over there as opposed to what gets reported. Here's his full reply based on half a dozen of so Swedes.

Hi Mark – The immigrant issue is definitely worsening. There are four factors:
• Over 90% of the people in Swedish prisons are not from Sweden.
• The news agencies here don’t report the seriousness of the situation as they are trying to protect the counties image as a safe and neutral environment.
• There are cities where the pockets of Muslim populations and crime is so high that the local police will literally not interfere or make action because then the events would have to be quantified and reported.
• There are 100,00 Muslims immigrating into Sweden each year for a country with a total population of 9 million so the percentage impact is huge both culturally and criminally.

followup; that crap they drink is Akvavit. It's disgusting. Taste like mineral spirts you clean your paint brushes with. We do shots with a 3 pronged shot glass so it gushes down your throat like an old fashioned beer bong. Wikipedia's definition below.

Learned how to drink it a few years ago in Denmark.
Sweden, Denmark, Norway, all have their version of, ‘Linie’,
(Which was 100+ years ago,
was just pored into the hull of a wooden ship,

Now it is put in casks, then in the hold of a ship.

The Best part of, Aquavit, is,

I still question if Mpes's is a member in good standing with the liberals but he ain't a conservative so they'll be no "reining" him in by the moderators.
