I don't care if it's a .22 short - I don't want any extra holes in me.

I was reading about the bolo knife last night
in the philopino american war, the little sob's would stab you several times before you could load a rifle and it would take several shots from a pistol to stop them.  So they came up with the .45 acp round and the 1911 was born.

Most of the time, we could be stopped with a flyswatter.
But a pissed off meth head will take a 45.

Although they said you're more likely to kill someone with a 22, it'll go in the chest and rickashay for a while.  whereas a 45 will go straight thru.

Story goes that the mafia all used .22 pistols for the on-you-knees-executioner-style kill shot. It would have enough energy to pierce the skull and scramble your eggs because it didn't have enough energy to exit.

I was just reading something about how it was suspected that Vikings and their "bezerker rage" was drug induced. Could've been happening for ages.

I was stopped by a 1 mm long splinter in my palm this morning. If it was 0.380" thick, it might have really incapacitated me.

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

I read a really good case that .22 autos are the best self defense weapon. This guy did research for a over a year on something like 8000 shootings over previous 15 years and the most common calibers used were 9 mm and .22.
According to this article, .22 autos were far more effective because the accuracy was far higher and multiple rounds hit the target. His theory, which makes sense to me, is because of no recoil, you can put 5 or 10 rounds on target where you have to practice regularly to be able to make that 2nd 9mm hit your target. His finding was the 2nd shot (and subsequent shots) were critical in many cases. Think about it, if you don't shoot often, the heavy recoil of a 9mm or .45 means if you don't hit the first time, you're increasing unlikely to hit at all.

Maybe the best self defense is the KelTec 30 shot .22 magnum auto. Don't discount.22 magnum, I've got a .22 mag revolver and it's potent.

Not to mention, less muzzle flash at night and quicker hearing recovery...
In an altercation,.. being able to see and hear might be handy... Roll Eyes

That's correct, the 38 caliber was the standard side arm at that time and it just couldn't get it done when they were hopped up on whatever.  No problem what so ever with the 45, or so the history books say.  Although, it is single action...

Best regards,
