So i recently got my 2001 savage. I noticed it already had a new petcock on it (good sign). When i cranked it i could very so slightly hear the chain tensioner was loose. No worries. Brought it home, opened it up and luckily i didnt drive it anymore because it was allmost about to fall out.

So anyways. I took it off, of course the circlip went flying, thats my luck. OH well ill get another. But i noticed my cam chain seems a lot more loose than others. Here is some pictures of when its not tight and when it is. Do i need to replace my chain? I have no idea how to start. Or can i just do the upgraded tensioner and be okay? It's looks to me to be the same as many I've done.
Yes, a verslavy will get some more life outta the chain.
You can also replace the tensioner guide for a little bit more.

The part number on eBay was SM-305.

The speedometer was going out on last owner so he put some new gauges on it. The old one has 15k when it stopped working. It now has 200 on the new ones.
