If a confederate flag has the capacity to envoke hate, a visual object, then so must movies. We can even consider music and video games too.
Looks logical. I know that as a youngster I was moved to patriotism and the notion of altruism/heroism, watching WWII movies. Brainwashed, effectively. Think the thug culture music hasn't affected the thinking of the youth who have been raised on it? Where do people GET their values? Young, impressionable minds, watching the older kids, watching their parent or parents. Watching T.V., and listening to a constant barrage of disrespect for others and glorifying TAKING what you want. Yeah, we got Big problems. Pay attention to the customer service you get in different places. Academy sporting goods is usually an exercise in futility. Hometown hardware, if you can slip in quietly and try to avoid being seen and manage to make two minutes without someone asking if they can help you, you are stealthy.
I digress.
We are a , supposedly, free society. OUR SERVANTS have taken it on themselves to Do for us what a few believe would benefit all. I agree, it would be great to not have shootings. But, the solution is not to take individual rights.

You think our Servants haven't tried in this and other places to impact the attitudes of the People? You think they haven't used OUR money to socially engineer America? We ALL went to school. How much time was spent explaining Fractional Reserve Banking? How much time was spent explaining how every dollar is created? If you were the teacher And you wanted your pupil to be fully able to succeed in society, wouldn't it be great to teach them HOW the money works? Isn't the purpose of education to put someone in a position to succeed? Isn't Money important? Maybe the school system is really more interested in creating graduates just smart enough to push the buttons and pull the levers. Maybe the large corporations don't want upstart entrepreneurs. Maybe the t a x code is designed to crush the small business. Maybe we are getting screwed. Maybe Carlin was right.
Wiping away the Confederate flag is wrong. Wiping away the bad games and hate filled songs is wrong. Teaching people they have a reason to be butt hurt over a piece of cloth that represents a piece of American history, rather than explain to them that they ma y be unhappy about it, but they may have been misinformed about HOW things were. The war wasn't about slavery. It was states rights. The Emancipation Proclamation would have been the FIRST thing written if it was just about slavery.
Just as I believe Lee Greenwood and Bruce Springsteen were somehow influenced to write their horrid patriotic songs, I also believe that the music industry that pushed the awful music that was adopted into the thug culture. Or, maybe im supposed to believe that inner city youth called the radio stations and said, Yo, muthafukkah, we need mo music about rapin and killin. And children petitioned game makers for more bloody games.
Rather than wipe the offensive THINGS out of society, maybe we need to raise up people who aren't so easily offended, don't believe that they have a right to a Safe Spot, in a public building, excluding whites. If white people did that the fighting would still be going o n.
We need to raise children who have goals other than the high score on a video game. And aspirations of making the FBI top ten most wanted list.
