POP.......
07/30/14 at 19:24:29

I often have to push my bike back as I sit astride into a parking slot at home and at work. Today, with clutch pulled in and bike in gear, I was doing it as I normally do when I noticed it seemed to not want to go....
I gave it a little more muscle thinking I might just be hung up on something at my rear tire, ground elevation. I heard a loud pop, didn't sound good  Lips Sealed
I could feel some resistance still, sorta like the clutch was out kinda, but it was not. I put it in neutral, but it still had some sort of binding, or pressure on it, almost as if something was jammed in the spokes.....
I hopped off, looked, saw nothing  Huh

Decided to give her a run. Fired her up, and gingerly gave it throttle, increasing it as I began to roll faster.....nothing.

Went faster, went into all gears, coasted in gear at a high rate of speed...... nothing. No gearbox noise, or clutch issues, nothing.

Rode her a few miles to get gas at 50 plus MPH, was thinking all along a lock up was possible, I dunno, but I paid a great deal of attention to my circumstance just in case it did  Tongue

Rode her 4 or so miles back, shut her off, put her in neutral, slid her backwards into her parking spot, nothing, good as always.....

Do I need be concerned, and what might it have been, just the gears doing a bit of stubbornness?

Thanks  Grin

I'm gonna' go with a tiny bit of gravel , caught in the tire tread,.. you push it, and "POP!"... it spits out the side and now it's okay again...

Option two,... same piece of gravel just behind your tire in the road...

Option three,... you backed over a squirrel...

Basic premise.... tire obstacle...
When a tire pops a pebble out, it literally makes that sound, and shoots it a good number of feet away...
Huh...

You may have had a small stone on your drive belt.

The POP you heard was the stone breaking when it
was rolled in between the belt and the drive pulley.

The continued resistance you felt when you kept
pushing was because the belt was very tight from
the stone debris still caught between the belt and
pulley.

When you rode off the debris fell out and everything
was back to normal.

Why push it in gear? That next POP may be a knee.

If the clutch wasn't as "in" as you thought it was then maybe that is the (rev?) limiter...
