On the, ‘cheep’ bike. 1997 LS650, 6500 miles.
See:
http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1406255025(It was so ‘cheap’, because of the oil I saw,
and pointed out, and, commented on.
Also more noise than normal from the clutch cover.
which again, I, ‘commented’ on.
(Which I think is the CCA, and ’slapping’ chain)
Anyway, in prep for taking the Clutch cover off.
(So I am ready when gaskets arrive, have a modified CCA)
Seats, Gas tank, all wiring looked good.
Did the Spedo mount, ‘vibration.noise’, thing.
And a bunch of other little ’tweaks’.
Now, the oil leak,
I, ’thought’ is was from, ‘overfill of oil’,
Which the sight glass, when leaning over, ‘just’, could see space at the top.
(Which I think is to full). And the header bolts being loose.
is where the oil was coming from, and of course, blew back over many other things.
Puke tube, had about a table spoon full of oil in it.
When I took the header off,
(Both bolts, came off with extension of ratchet, and with Fingers)
Top bolt looked new, bottom bolt was dark and burnt looking.
gasket, had a LOT of carbon around.
However the spark plug, was dark tan, and not oily?
So, what do you think this oil leak is from?
If it is head gasket, I am thinking,
1. Clean it up, and keep cleaning it. (and watch the oil)
2. Try to tighten bolts, see if it is loose,
3. Take it to a ‘pro’ wrencher, pull the motor, and fix.
(now that all the little labor intensive parts are removed)
If you think it is something simple, I’ll try that.
Thanks for your time.
