If I Wasn't a Moral Man...
05/25/14 at 19:34:01
So I'm talking to a friend from church at lunch and he says "I have a bike that's been sitting for two years and doesn't run and my wife doesn't want me to ride anymore..." So we're chatting and it turns out he has a 2001 Kawasaki W650 with 6K miles on it. I didn't offer "to take it off his hands" and told him he needs to keep it and get it running and take it for a spin once a week, it's gonna be a classic some day.

Shorty, It's a "classic" bike now. They rarely show up for sale anywhere. I did tell him, if he ever decides to sell it I have first dibs on making an offer. He KINDA knew it was a rare bike, but not that rare.

Best A65 BSA never made, just like the Yammerscammer XS650 Special (with 60 spoke wire wheels only) is the best Bonneville Triumph never made.
Savage is a knock-off Norton, Virago was a knock-off Vincent.
At least the "emulators" at J.A. Pan Inc chose interesting platforms to "update".
Get it. Just don't try riding it, your poor Savage will end up a condominium for spiders, scorpions and lizards... The W650 really puts our bikes to shame, on all levels.

Says the man who replaced his Slow Pokey Salvage with a his and hers pair of Yamahas...
I'm off tomorrow, going to go look at and test sit a brand new never had oil in the cases C90T Boss. The Savage is a great backroads toy, but it is utterly incapable of handling the I-40 loop in Memphis on my commute. Road is too rough and too high speed for it.

I like the shaft-driven cam.. no versy tensioner needed
twin cylinders with long stroke, pretty cool as well
and might I add: 50hp ...what do we have, 40hp? :'(

The LS650 generates about 30 hp at the crank & 25 hp at the rear wheel.

Depends on the year, 49 state-Commiefornia-Europe model specs.
26-32hp at the crank.

Yeah... I even thought of trading him my running Savage for his non-running bike, but his wife doesn't want him riding a bike now because they have a new baby (Phoenix is hell on bikers). So he is in a bit of a rock and hard place with a cool bike and no where to go with it. He may eventually let it go, but he knows he's got a keeper.
