Yup, been trying to buy some 22LR's for weeks. The stores are out and there's none available online. If Obama gets his way this time it could be for real.

You can reload them, but it isn't worth it to me. I switched to .22 shorts since Lisa's lever gun, my bolt action and my 8 shot target revolver will all handle them. Price went up on them, counting tax just over a dime a shot for 1080 fps CCI copper washed round nose.

They are legal for small game hunting here, but, very few people actually buy them. More for me AND no need to hoard them.

Yep, but it tends to be a real fast way to lose a finger or two. Match head slurry, black powder and old style round split shot fishing weight. Like I said, not worth the headaches.

There were kits on the market from the 19teens through the mid 1960s for reloading your own .22 empties. They came with sizing dies, seating dies, liquid priming compound, bullet mold, powder measure (2 grains of smokeless) and directions.

Looks like I'm gonna have to get something that will shoot shorts. I've been wanting a Henry Lever Action.

There shouldn't be any shortage ... they should cost $99 tax and 10c, $99.10 a piece, and come in nice sealed packets with a bar code on them.
That way everyone should be able to get one if they need it.

See how well that works.

One of those "why did the elephant paint itself white" type proofs.

Cool.

Person 1: Why did the elephant paint itself white ?
Person 2: I dont know.

P1: To hide in the milk.
P2: What ? I've never seen an elephant in the milk.

P1 (smugly) : See how well its working.

Yea ... its not a proof at all.

My argument had no merit ... but I didn't want to be left out of this thread ...  Grin

Cool

Sri shooting is a sport. Buying a box of 22's or shotgun shells is no different than buying golf balls. 22's and skeet shells arent the first choice for killers. You cant charge a deer hunter $100 for a bullet. All the video game look alike rifle ammo is gone and the manufactuers told the gun shop owners dont try to order anymore until 2014. Protect yourself, spend $300 and get you a Ruger LCP. Its so small no one notices it in your pocket or you can hide it on your person. Get a concealed carry and if you have a good instructor he'll show you how to use and maintain it properly aqnd how to acuratley shoot it.. No Law or Law Enforcement Officer can defend you, I wish it was different but thats the way things are. I want us both to live long enough to meet. To fight evil you're gonna have to shoot or beg for mercy. I'm gonna shoot.

The henry lever actions are nice and being able to shoot shorts, longs and long rifle are a big plus.I have 22's that are more accurate but my h001 is my favorite for hunting.I had a golden boy it was a pretty rifle but the sights were hard for me to see and I didn't want to put a scope on it.I ended up trading it for an ebr.

Found a Henry 22 at a Walmart about 30 miles away. Went and got it while ago and I swear they were out of 22 shorts LOL. I'll find something to shoot in it. I have a Simmons 22 scope to go on it and I wanna zero it in at 50 yards with 22 shorts. Most of the local stores stay sold out of LR's but they usually have shorts. Looks like I have some shopping to do tomorrow. Its a nice gun!
