Handlebar question
10/18/12 at 17:18:18

I have a 2000 savage and i'm planning on quite a few upgrades over the winter. Does anybody know if my stock bars would be 7/8" or 1"???  Can't stand them and I want new risers and drag bars. I've got no way to measure them at the moment and I want to make sure I buy the right ones. Thanks.

My 2001 are 1" bullhorns. Been gone for a broomstick. Assuming yours would be the same.

@jbk  mine are  "bullhorns" also. Don't really like the grip position.                                    @serowbot   good to know. Just wanted to make sure as i'm planning on keeping the stock controls after the upgrade.  Thank you both...  Cool

I have a 2000 with broomsticks.  You will have to add a minimum of 1.5 inches to your risers to prevent controls from hitting tank.

And buy plain bars, not dimpled. If the bars you like have those options. Trust me, go with plain. Finally threw away my control boxes, went from round to dimpled back to round, had to do some grinding to fit on dimpled, no longer stayed in place on round. Save yourself some headaches later.

Oh, mine are 15" rise apehangers...

Same here, went with a cheap $30 eBay non-dimpled 1" drag bar. Added some homemade 2" risers and it's made a ton of difference in riding position and comfort.
