It looks like I can rig the right one to work. The left one will rest on my rear pulley/belt. How silly is it to mount only one? Maybe I should try to find a bag that mounts on top of the fender that is easily removable.

Well, this may take a torch to do... but I've thought of a quick attach support that I may do in the future.

Drill 2 1/4" holes in the side rails on both sides.
Get some 3/16" music wire from the local hobby shop.
bend the ends in "Z" form so they'll slip into the holes of the side rails.
A couple of bends to form a loop and you got a cheap quick mounting support.

My '01 came with Suzuki bags--no supports. They were tied to the shocks and somewhere in front of rear wheel--lapped over fender under pillion seat. They were fairly stiff and looked like leather. Ran them about a year and sold them. Never had any problems, but you don't want an unintentional lockup of the rear wheel with bags in the spokes. Be careful.
