Clicking/Ticking Noice on Occasion

From this post;

My bike has the same ticking sound, but not all the time.
It doesn't happen with any regularity; sometimes when the bike is warm, sometimes when it's not.
It will not do it when I start riding but start after a while, then go away.
Any idea? I was thinking valves need adjusting, as known my bike was poorly maintained before I got it.
Thoughts?
