my 87 ss wont shift into 5th gear (Read 162 times)

Either you need a tach or you're right.
I have a suspicion that some of the 87's got the smaller primary and larger clutch gear of the later year bikes. I have an '88 and it's got the same gears as the '96 and '02.

But then I ride pretty slow and sedate. I've looked at the drive ratios and all I can think is that the top gear should be a decent overdrive instead of what it is.
