Bar End Mirrors on my '05 - Question
07/30/11 at 17:29:07

So, I'm considering some bar end mirrors.

For those in the know, do the current bars/grips have an end cap on them that slides or pops out/off?

I figure they will be either really easy to install, or it will be more work than I imagine.

Feedback please, if you've got any.

The chrome caps on the grips are separate pieces that can come off -- though I don't know how.

The end caps just pop off.
If you have trouble just drop the bike and it'll fly off.

I don't know if you can put bar end mirrors on, not much room on the end.

It depends on the type of mirror. Some clamp around the end of the bar, others have a collet that slides into the bar. In both cases one needs to make sure the mirrors were made to fit 1" bars or have adapters for 1" bars. Most are for 7/8".

Yes,... the stock bars have welded in end weights...
You can't get anything in the tube...  so, my bar-end mirrors wouldn't work at all...

Gotcha. So it's either new bars or no dice, it sounds like. Bummer.

Yup second that. They kinda just fall off. And never stay the same again.

And no you can't use the insert type mirrors. You have to find a set that clamps on. There is about 1/2 of bar left without the cap on. But imagine getting a nice set of clamps and having a double stuffed bar end poking out, not too nice to look at. It almost looks like the bottom of a magic maker.
