Sorry if this has been asked before, I'm new around here. Has anyone tried to install a new fuel gauge on their Savage?

Number of ways to do it
luggage lock taped to the handlebars being the cheapest.
Veypor vr1 offers a number of feature, speedo, tach, gear indicator and fuel level.
Also a VN750 tank has a level sensor in it.

Gee my o9 has a gauge just to the right of the speedo, Grin insert the key remove the fuel gauges chrome cover and look inside with a little sunlight you can easily see how much fuel you have.  Or you can just do what I do and get gas every 100 miles.

Depends on how much you wanna pay for one.  Those Veypor things get pretty pricey!  But after a while, you get used to not having one.  Here's my latest "fuel gauge" velcro'd in place for easy changing at fill-ups, and easy to see while riding.

well i cheated - i filled up the bike even though it did not need to be filled on the even 100 mile mark on the Odom.....now i refilled it +/- 5 miles either side of the next 100 mark or right on it if i am near a gas station.....and I know if i get pushed i can in reality go to +25 over the next 100 on reserve and still not be a pedestrian....doubt i would try 130 i'd be walking to get a gas can......now if you are a feather weighted rider you might get to 140........

At 60mpg,.. with 2,8 gallons,... I should be able to go 168 miles...

... but I fill at 100 miles anyway.
I have gone as far as 120, but I was getting worried... Huh...

Ride until it starts to sputter, flip to reserve, find gas.

I often forget to turn the petcock to ON after starting. I usually suddenly remember about 1/4 mile down the road.

Arnold - i'm guessing you have the raptor (I do too), and someone here once told me they leave it "on" all the time. If i remember correctly it's only a problem if your float has a problem and by their way of thinking, better to find that out while you're parked and not while you're riding.
