Hey sorry it took a while, I did try running it on prime with the vacuum plugged with no difference. After another 10mins I heard a change like it was off and then watched some black smoke start to come out of the pipe until I gave it some more gas. It ran a little bit then started to die off again.

There was no fuel in the vacuum lines either.

Is there another suggestion before I try and get a coil?

sounds like the slide is sticky in the carb to me - have you had the carb apart - if not maybe pickup some spray carb cleaner, pull the air filter and hose down the slide a bit -

if you had the carb apart the slide needs to be very clean when you put it back in - even oily finger prints can cause it act odd - it has very little clearence and as it heats up it has even less
