Has anyone here tried one of these? (sorry, I don't know how to insert urls). It  seems it would cheaply solve all our jetting and backfire problems.

http://www.thunderproducts.com/dial_a_jet.htm

Some people swear by them, some swear at them.

If you Google "Dial-A-Jet reviews" you can get all the feedback you want.

They they show flat and round slide carbs but don't specifically mention CV carbs. I wonder if it works with CV.

But, you know, jetting isn't that hard. There's a lot of good baseline info and step-by-step instructions here, and it's not like you're dealing with an inline four.

Unless you're an experienced tuner... I wouldn't recommend it.

Why would I have to be an experienced tuner?- the install looks prety easy to me.

This is advertised as doing nearly everything that EFI will do w/o any moving parts or electronics. Its quite plain to see it is controlled strictly by throttle position,..... the velocity of air going thru the airhorn using vacuum to draw the fuel thru the dial, simple as that.
For adding fuel in a lean condition it probably works, but adding it in the right place at the right time like EFI does ?? Shocked

Info on the Thunderproducts website does a good job of explaining the function.  Fairly simple and  direct if you have an understanding of the way a carb works.
I like them and use them on all except the Edelbrock Quicksilver because the Edelbrock uses the same concept for its carb already.
