I guess you could toss a cheapo plug in & ride it & avoid the wide open area of the throttle & see how it looks, slap another one in & go run it hard & see hhow it looks,,

I respectfully disagree.

It's been my experience that a bad petcock diaphragm leaking fuel into the vacuum line CAN be manifest itself as an intermittent problem.
