Scrapes on road make me think the bike slid under him.

Yeah,.. those look like scrape marks in the road, in front of the bike...
...like the bike laid down and skidded into the car...
...but,.. I can't imagine the bike getting under there, without the car backing up and over...

Maybe the cop was backing out into traffic, and the biker laid it down in a skid trying to avoid him?...

Once again, a picture posted showing a police car in a bad situation. Had the car not been a police cruiser, the picture would probably not have been taken, let alone posted. Unfortunately, we have no more information. What happened? Was the cruiser stopped? Was the bike speeding? We don't have enough information to know. We don't even know whether the picture is current or old. This could even have been a "staged" picture, for all we know.

No, we dont "know" exactly what happened. But, we can use our knowledge & experiences to make note of some details to give clues. The road is scraped up & the car is jacked up on the bike. L/R bumper is mis-shapen & fluids trail from the bike, so, Id say the odds of it being staged are exactly zero. Now, who was at fault? I see no clue that would help me start to guess. But, Ill stick to my point. That had the cop not been there to be the other 1/2 of the collision, its likely there would be no need for one. I call that irony.

Yea, its bad taste, downright tacky, to post a pic of a cop car in a questionable situation. Must     maintain   loyalty   to the state, all hail the state! ( read & repeat as needed)

I didn't say it was bad taste to post the picture. And I am not surprised to see it posted, even without amplifying information, in a simple attempt to make the police look bad. Indeed, the driver of the cruiser may have been at fault. In general, however, when a vehicle is hit from the rear presumptive fault is assigned to the rearward vehicle on the grounds of "following too close."

I was stationed in Turkey for a while. We were told, in the event of a traffic crash, that we would almost invariably be found at fault regardless of the actual situation, because "If you weren't here this would not have happened." That "logic" is precisely the same as saying the cop is at fault because he had to be there to be the other half of the crash.

As far as the odds of the photo being staged being "exactly zero" you have omitted the very slight chances of either a) a movie stunt: or b) someone shoving the bike under a police car just for such a photo.

And no, I do not believe "All hail the State."

No,,, I didnt assign fault to the cop, I simply stated that had he not been there to crash into, the odds of the biker being in a spot that requires a cop would have gone down, dramatically. The thread title [played a role in my reply.

With that logic, that if the cop had not been there the accident wouldn't have happened, if the motorcycle had not been there the accident would not have happened.  Such an illogical remark.  You could use that argument for every accident.
