Oil Change Question
03/01/10 at 15:42:50

Hey Guys, I recently changed my oil and oil filter. I filled it w/ two quarts of the Suzuki Oil. My questions is regarding the oil window- it's been a month and the oil window is completely full, despite the fact that I only put 2 quarts in. The manual states that when you change the filter to add 2.1 quarts. Should I be concerned? The bike seems to be riding great.
Thanks, Matt.

In another thread, I think I helped determine some time ago that these bikes are not critical about overfilling by a small amount.

In mine, 2 qts shows that it is overfilled. But it don't matter anymore. I dropped the bike once to properly check the oil, and it will never happen again ! Now if I see even a full window when its on the stand, its good enough for me. But do what works for you.

Thanks Routy! It's full when it's standing up straight, but if it doesn't seem to be an issue, I won't stress about it.

I just remembered the latest and best way I had of checking oil,......

just kick a 2x4 (flatwise) under the stand, and if I don't see a little oil, in the glass, I add oil till I do.
That has been working great for me.

With new filter mine needs 2 quarts and about a cup to get to the middle of the two lines,I run it on the top line.

When I drain my oil I tip the bike over on one side and then the other to get the oil to drain from any pockets,Also run the engine for about five seconds,And I get more oil out of it.

and if you lean it just a bit when you check - the window gets full. I wouldn't worry too much. You would blow a seal in first 5 miles if it was too much.
