Timing chain jumped, need help
11/16/09 at 17:50:42

Hi everyone,

I have this problem, the timing chain jumped and I took it apart to install a new one but I discovered that there are no timing marks to install the cam sprocket, I found one in the flywheel for TDC but have no clue how the cam sprocket goes, it has 2 bolts and a pin.

Do the bolts go horizontal or vertical? or the pin aligns with something? how this thing goes?

thanks in advance.

Augusto.

On the end of the shaft there are two marks, at TDC they are horizontal, the pin goes at 1 o'clock.

you mean the end that is oposite to the sprocket? I guess in the end face of the shaft correct?

it has a notch in there that I tried to align with something with no luck but I'll pay attention to your reply.

thanks a lot

If your chain jumped, you need to check the guides and the tensioner as well as the chain for excessive wear.

new chain installed, but the tensioner is extended very far out... I'll leave it like this anyway, I won't mess with it anymore.

the tensioner will extend about 8mm even when the chain and guides are brand new. Look into the Verslavy modification to extend the life of your chain/guide system.
