fork seal.. i think (Read 49 times)

The part you can see is most likely the dust seal ($9.79 on Bike Bandit).

A Clymers manual is helpful too.

If it is just the dust seal it shouldn't be too hard to replace yourself. I strongly suggest using the Clymers Manual. Lots of pictures and step by step directions.

California Gender:	Re: fork seal.. i think Reply #3 - 05/05/09 at 11:48:57 That top piece is a dust seal and keeps the dirt off of the real working piece, oil seal underneath it. Easy to replace, but you gotta drop the fork. You gotta '88, and don't know if the seals or oil was ever replaced. I'd get new seals, dusters, oil and retaining rings and do it right. one busted seal beggets another.
