I have an 87 savage, not sure what is original and what has been swapped out. I looked all over the carb for model number as described on this forum and in the Clymer manual and found none. Anyway it has 4 ports, the petcock has only 2. The main supply is obvious as is the vacuum port. The other two are located midway up on both sides and if I leave the petcock on PRI or RES gas will flow out of them after sitting with the engine off. I have to set to FUEL in order to keep it from happening. It has to be set for RES or PRI in order to run. Not sure what the difference between the two is, when I had the petcock out they both run to the same hole there is no separation inside the tank. I would plug off the two 'extra' ports but I don't want it to flood the engine either. Any suggestions???
