I show 0.445" or 11.303mm at the points indicated in the picture. The scoot has 20,000 miles on the clock, but I don't know if the chain has ever been worked on or not.
If I pull the adjuster will the necessary changes I need to make be evident? It looks like if I just replace the tensioner the new one will be in the same place as the old one. (Joe Friday ain't much of a wrench)
Ah, a newbe with common sense.
You got it, tensioners don't wear out, chain and guides do.
But if you leave it in this condition long, the hole for the plunger will oval and you'll need a new one.
20k is about the right mileage for that amount of wear, although you could have done better. Only a few have.
You can put in a verslavy
