It is nice to be sitting in a comfortable chair instead of a motorcycle seat again; the ride was great fun but 4 days straight on the road is hard on the body. Anyway, back to the issue at hand.
Regarding the power increase on the performance carb...expect something in the 20-25% range, depending on exhaust system used. The better the exhaust system the more of the carb's capability that can be used.
A stock Savage/S40 will only be able to use a small percentage of the carb's
total capability. If the engine is modified for more power then the carb is jetted & tuned to match the engines need; up to being bored to almost 700 cc, head porting, comp ratio raised, perf cam, etc; this carb can handle all of it.
A stock Savage makes about 25 hp at the rear wheel. On a stock bike and with a good exhaust and filter, the addition of the perf carb should get you into the mid 30's hp range.
Proper jetting and good tuning make a significant difference, with several hp changes up or down depending on the state of tune of the carb.
