Flipping risers

Can I just flip the risers on my '05 to extend the reach out a little?  Has anyone done this, and does it make the steering a little weird or is it alright

also, those little chrome caps on the risers, are those chromed plastic?  I started to pop one off with a little screw driver and I think it started chipping apart on me... so I just stopped to make sure I was supposed to  pop it off with a screw driver.

Here's an old post with pics all about doing that.

I did it also when I got my 07 and it made a big difference. Use a razer blade under the little chrome plastic tabs instead of a screwdriver.

I did it to my '08 and loved the result. Extends the reach out so I didn't feel so cramped at the controls. Yes those are "chrome" covered plastic (Iknow, I know, there's a legal definition of what constitutes "chrome", and plastic is covered; but to me chrome should be metal.)

Did it, loved it, my cheap chinese socket wrench broke, I got stressed out, stripped the hell out of the bolts that attach the risers, so they will never be flipped back.  But this is ok, because the riding position is so much better that I probably wouldn't do it anyway, hope my windshield still fits...
