Bike barn? Does anyone have one?
12/11/07 at 11:39:26

Just had son #2, and don't get to ride much these days. No garage, so I'm looking for resources. Does anyone have the  Bike Barn, or know anything about it?

http://www.thebikebarn.net

Thanks for any advice you can give!

Depends on how much room you have and where you live.  Here in LaLaLand That BikeBarn would disappear along with the bike -- doesn't look very secure.  For not a lot more you can get an 8x10 yard shed -- which would give you room to store parts, supplies, yard equipment, etc. as well as the bike, room to work on the bike, standing height.

Congratulation on Son #2, hope you didn't name him Suzi or Sav-the shed would, inMass, cost about 2.5 times as much, so it seems like it would be a cost effective way to shelter the mildly neglected bike. If you get ice or snow, might want to call them and make sure it'll take the weight.  Please keep us informed..we live vicariously.

I have a "barn", but it is made from wood. 8 X 12 and makes a great place to keep my bike. Very secure.

I didn't see the price, but it doesnt look like something that is gonna be around all that long. IF it was my bike & I just needed a place to shelter it I would get 4 of those lawn use 4X4's, they arent square, rounded on 2 sides & cost a lot less than a 4X4.. Okay, Landscaping 4x4, FINally,, & some plywood & drywall screws. If you grab a wax toilet seal, poking the screws in the wax makes them go in a lot easier. The door doesnt even have to have hinges, just a hasp on each side & 2 locks, drop the door on the ground.
It can be done on the cheap & solid enough to last for years, and, as others have mentioned, with enough room to stash other stuff in there. If you can ride a bike you can build a box to park it in. If tools are the issue, pawn shops have saws for cheap. Be Careful!
