I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to mount the battery without the battery box. I basically want the look of an open area under the seat. Thanks, Jim

It appears that some of the OE battery tray was used to create a base for it. It was done poorly and I redid some of it before it went in service. Really didn't pay much attention except to fix it so the battery was retained in place. Max

I think the cables are long enough. Although, with a sealed battery, down on its side might be possible. Hmmmm.

there are 2 places that come to my mind. Both will copy some Intruder solution:
1. like Intruder 800 /where the Ca models have the charcoal canister/. It will be a b1tch to do any service to the battery.
2.like an Intruder 1500- in front of the engine. You can make a battery box to fit the desired battery. If You want, you can mount the rectifier-regulator in front also and this will clean the area under the rear seat in case if You want to go "solo seat".
Either way, You will have to do nice and clean wiring job. Other wise You will spend more time chasing problems than riding.

Posts: 2517 central Mass Gender:	Re: Battery Placement Reply #6 - 09/25/07 at 19:31:45 My battery box is about 3-4 inches longer than the battery, so turning it so it sits north-south, and pushing it back towards the rear wheel seems more doable given we can cut down the battery box.Fabricating a mount is obviously an issue.

good ideas often need one or two days (and nights) in the garage Wink

You can't use the bracket directly - it must be modified to fit the battery.
The design must allowed to recharge and change (put out) the battery without a stand (impotend for long distance driver only). yes - in side position (gel battery) sorry don't know the right word for this special battery type...it's not the original battery!

The front rake are realized by a Fischer fork and the rear fender is a "selfemade custom peace". The complete construction and building time required one Winter.

...but this is not the end...the next winter comes...and i have supid ideas Grin
