Minor Savage Problem
09/03/07 at 16:47:37

Almost every time I turn off my '01 Savage, I hear a bang about 1-2 seconds after the motorcycle has completely shut down. It sounds like excess fuel in the cylinder is igniting itself to produce one more revolution...does anyone know how to fix this???

I tried pouring some carburetor cleaning liquid with my fuel, ran the tank dry, filled it up again and the bang persists...I'm stumped...anything related is appreciated...thanks

This is pretty common, just enjoy it! I sort of enjoy looking over at the exhaust at night and seeing the blue flame shoot out.  I am sure there is a way to get rid of it entirely, but I have just not wanted to get that far into it yet.

I have an '05' and when I changed my stock pipe to a sportster pipe, it sounded like a shotgun everytime I shut her down. I was able to tune most of that out with re-jetting and adjusting the  idle mixture screw and the idle speed. I haven't done the white spacer mod but I may do that one during the winter.
