Performance Runs

This is a quick pic of a run during a carb jetting session.

Those are peak HP and torque numbers for the run, but do not show an accurate picture because the high throttle range is not dialed in yet, it begins to cut out a bit at about 5500 rpm.
The HP curve shows a max HP of 42.2 in 1st gear, 31.6 in 2nd, 32.1 in 3rd, 30.0 in 4th, 25.7 in 5th.

If I understand the system correctly, the basic numbers through the gears is based upon just the time/speed, and the overall numbers (the larger ones in the pic) also take into account the weight of the rider + bike...559 lbs.

I need to learn more about how it works, and check that the base data used to make the calculations is correct.  I will report more as I get done.

Lancer,

How was the data taken?  From your little electronics box?  it says 50 HP/50 ft-lbs... but you state 42 max?

So... with new valves.... think you can hit 60 HP/ 60 ft-lbs?

Let's see, If I recall, you have a 95 mm piston with the ceramic cylinder treatment... a reground cam, KN air filter, and a round slide carb?  that's about a 66% increase from the stock HP!

So... what kind of 1/4 mile time you got?   Wink

Yes, that is the time.  The high throttle range is not working smoothly yet...cuts out a bit , but it pulls very strongly up to just past 5000.
The 0-60 time was 6.3 sec. on this same run. 70 mph at 8.47 sec, 80 mph at 11.5 sec, and the graph ends with 89.1 mph at 16.67 sec.
To bring some more confusion into this, the hp and torque combined curves show max hp of 39.6 /2 5,651 rpm, and 36.9 ft-lbs torque @ 5,390 rpm.

I definitely need to do some more reading in the manual.  Either I did something that was incorrect or I am reading this wrong.

The numbers from the Veypor are supposed to be real world rear wheel horsepower and torque...not at the crank (that is what the factory uses) or on a stationary dyno...but the real deal where the rubber meets the road.

I do not completely understand how it could be generating 50 hp when the jetting/tuning is not even complete on the carb yet.

I'm a lucky guy, my friend Tony has a flow bench and another friend,Jonathon, has a programmable rolling road dyno so it'll work as a inertia or brake.
