I love the sound of mine with the hd on there. Reminds me more of an old military heicopter than a bike with the bike single when your just lugging along. Listen and you'll hear it.

You're absolutely right.
The sound reminds me of the old Hiller with piston engine I used to work on when I was doeing my militairy service back in 1963.

Would you give me some advice please?  I want to paint my Savage the same yellow color that you used - it looks great!   I am a person who can't pick out colors from a color chart, so please let me know what brand and color you chose, and do you think the paint is available in the states?

The color was picked by the previous owner.
I have however a touch-up bottle that matches the color allmost. Will have to look on the bottle for the reference number. The brandname is Duplicolor. For color references you might surf to "colorite" or something like that.

That bike is great!  Where did those handlebars come from?  I'm loooking for a similar hollow bar to add those exact same front turn signals...

Except for the forward controls everything else comes from louis.de.
Keep an eye on e-bay for the FWC,  that's where I bought them.

The shocks are Hagon from the UK.

The blinkers are on sale for 9,95 Euros a piece at the moment.

The handlebars are made by SLS and sold by Louis.de.
You can  use HD handlebars, they are allso 1" in diameter.

That and the fact that so many of these folks in other countries speak English fluently.  It makes me wish I'd paid more attention to my French classes in high school and want to learn at least one other language now.  I'd actually love to speak Spanish, German, Japanese, Chinese and Russian but I probably won't live long enough to make a dent in that.  Living in Texas, I'll start with Spanish, though I'd probably find German easier.  I used to work with schematics that were written in German and Dutch and found them relatively intuitive.

Living in Texas, I'll start with Spanish.

Rob,

as a Eng-Spa translator with over 15 years of experience, and based on my experience as an English teacher in my early years after college, my recommendations would be:

- Take advantage of the Spanic population in Texas and approach them in Spanish with simple phrases, like "Hola, cómo está? (Hi, how are you?)", "Gracias" (thanks), "Hasta Luego" (See you later), etc.

- Practice, practice and more practice. Don`t let the fear to mistakes refrain you from speaking (we all did MAJOR mistakes when learning foreing languages, and many Hispanics will understand that, and some may even correct your grammar or pronunciation errors).

- Watch TV in Spanish, it will help your ears to get used to the entonation, vocabulary, etc.

- Read in Spanish as much as you can; it helps build up vocabulary, as well as will allow you to practice your fluency. Read aloud, and listen to yourself.

- Consider that there are some sounds in Spanish that do not exist in English and viceversa (the rolling "RRRRs" are the best example)

- Try to travel to an Spanish-speaking country, where your only chance to get through is speaking the local language (you will notice is much faster than 1-hour classes, Chile is a gorgeous country with excellent wine, salmon, fruit and landscapes to die for)

- Practice, practice and more practice (see second paragraph above and continue down)

If and when you are here, let me know so I can show you around.

Best,

RW
