Which pipe will fit best?

Ok early this spring when the Savage unthaws from it's winter nap I'm going to do the sportster exhaust swap.  I recently aquired two pipes off e-bay.

Both stamped "X-L"

One had the EPA garbage on it, lists the part number 65605-87A it has the larger of the tabs in the pictures.

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/seancevans/my_photos

The one on the left is one with the largest tab (duh) it also has all the markings.  Sorry it was cold out in the PT and I just brought them in, so they are all fogged over. (Good shape really.)  They also seem quite hollow...  Hmmm...

Question:

Which one of these will be the least difficult to finagle onto the bike? Roll Eyes

Oh and BTW I'm giving the otherone away to ShawnB if he pays shipping.  (Yeah I'm working on that one buddy, I'll let you know soon.)  No offense I just want to use the one I paid for if you know what I mean....

My bet is you could get either one on.  The one on the left looks more like the version I've seen on Savages.  It's also looks like the one that's on my bike.  Mine also has all the EPA stuff on it...

Out of the two, the one on the left. However, the easiest HD muffler to install is the Dyna version. No tabs to bend ..

I think the 65605-87 is the one used in the thread in the tech section. The other, which should be labeled 65613-87, would probably work.  87 is the model year.

So I'd remove the stock muffler and see which one fits better.
Then take your choice.

I traded some extra tools for a complete sporty exhaust system from a '94 Harley and it had the exact same pair of mufflers. I ended up using the muffler without all the EPA noise writing on it.The mounting tab lines up closer to the stock mounting point and the muffler looks better without all the writing on it. They both will fit, just depends on how you want to mount it.

Check out these two slashcut dyno mufflers I got off ebay.  Won them both with shipping for 55.00  I gave one to Torque for his bday and we mounted mine.  Has a small baffle and still better then the baffleless mac  I had.  Its kinda short but looks great on the bike.  Ill take some pics of it mounted later today.

hope u enjoy.

I switched mine out to an aftermarket drag pipe from Highway Hawk, so i don't have a stock pipe laying around anymore, can anyone tell me the OD of the stock headpipe?
