Almost Dropped Her
07/19/05 at 10:55:20

I almost dropped by bike on Sunday.  Forgot to put the kick stand down.  She was just under 45 degrees when I dug deep and managed to pull her back to 90.

Just a reminder to myself and to others here.  DON'T FORGET THE KICK STAND, STUPID!

That's one time you're glad she's a light bike.

Speaking of kickstands, does anyone know if there is an aftermarket or even like a homemade type of centerstand that will fit up halfway decent under the bike? ???

It'd be handy, wouldn't it?

For maintenance at home, I use the Rikko's Build Your Own Bike Lift/Stand.  Even though I have a jack, this is just so fast and easy to use.

Been there...Done that!
I got around my forgetfulness by using the side stand kill switch to shut it down.  Roll to a stop first thing I do is reach for the stand.  As a side note it also checks to make sure the safety interlock on the side stand is working just in case I'm forgetfull enough to leave it down.

And THAT is why I insisted on an under 400 pound cruiser.

Done it two ways:
Dropped her while on her (only had @20 miles-2nd time on her)  :'(
Saved her while off her-parked on an unnoticable slope in a parking lot.  Slow-mo roll forward, enough for the kick stand to start collapsing... Shocked
I thought I was Atom Ant!!  Grin

Looked around to see if anyone was watching  8)

LOL.  Just glad I'm not alone.  Thanx guys love the post!

I almost dropped my bike Sunday.  In a gas station.  I was stopped at the pump, engine off, and started leaning the bike.  It started going further over than I expected -- it took me a second to figure out why.

Pulled back before it could fall, though.

And yes, I felt incredibly stupid. Roll Eyes

Put 1500 wing in basement for the winter a few years ago, moved it a little, thought the side stand was down, wing don't need to go 45 degs. befor it needs the gov. of california to keep 'er up. she threw me into wall and tore rotor cuff clean off, requring surgey to correct. thats why my wing is now triked. befor I bought the Savage, I went to dealer to see if I could straddle a Savage, lay 'er down on handlebar, then pick 'er back up. I did, so thats why my solo ride is an LS 650. Bill aka diesel.
