I was originally gonna post a "Congrats to the Limeys and Condolences to the Frogs" thread concerning the 2012 games but then the 7-7 attacks happened and I kind of forgot about it. Our thoughts and prayers are with those involved and their friends & families.

And congratulations on the Olympics!

Hey guys and gals thankyou for your concerns and thoughts for us brits.
I live in Nottingham, about 2 hours away from London.. Obviously, like ever decent humanbeing on this planet, I have been affected by the atrocities perpetrated by the scum that must live around the rim of our toilets, but not directly.
My sympathy also goes out to the victims and their families of all such acts where-ever they occur in the world..
A little more worried today cus my better half as driven down to London this morning...but life must go on and we will NOT change our way of life.

Gazab, I'm glad you're okay.

You guys in the UK have my sympathy, and my admiration for getting right back out there the next day. You're right -- life has to go on, or the terrorists have achieved their goal.

The whole thing was horrifying to watch on the news here. I can't imagine what it was like for people in London. I'm originally from NY -- I remember being afraid for my family and friends on 9/11; and hubby has family that worked in and around the WTC. It's a horrible feeling when you're afraid your loved ones are in harm's way -- but afterwards, there was never any talk from them about leaving. My cousin and my sister didn't quit the NYPD, and hubby's relatives didn't quit their jobs.

Gazab, it sounds like your better half is doing the same thing -- living her life. Good. You're absolutely right -- the terrorists will have achieved their goals if people in the UK allow fear to dictate how they live.

I was watching coverage of it on the news earlier, and they were interviewing people getting back on the Underground and going back to work. They seemed worried, but determined. Strong folks there.

It'll be great, and a relief, to hear from the other Brits on the board too...
