hey just yesterday my savage started leaking gas.......real slow drip but is consistent....... the security gaurd of my apartment spotted it first and then switch my tank to reserve (it was in prime) and he said it stopped........... but then i switched it back into prime and it started leaking again..... so right now i have a bunch of rags underneath..... does anyone know where the leak is coming from?

maybet hese pics would help.

A likely suspect would be your carburetor. Check the float bowl at the gasket surface. Dry or clean this area and turn the lever to prime and watch closely at all areas for fuel to weep.

I had a fuel leaking problem once, with a car though, but it was the fuel hose that got old and brittle !

Leaking in PRI and stops on Reserve?

First of all the "normal" running positions for the petc0ck is either On or Res, because they are vacuum operated.

PRI is for maintenance or to fill an empty carb with gas after working on it.  PRI is an "always on" position, so if there is a carb float problem (as mentioned above) this would be the most likely way to find out  Tongue  It can be your float setting, the float needle valve, dirt in the carb, or a leaking gasket.  Need to drop the bowl off....

As for the upside down picture....that looks like the brake pedal switch in the lower corner...and I don't think they usually leak gas....(just kidding)

....that large hose is your airbox drain.  Just for grins, pull the plug on the end of that hose and see what comes out.

Can't you repost?  Besides, we're needing closure on this one Smiley  Did you find the leak?
