Maybe we can just be friends

I sold all four of my bikes this week (got an insane amount of money for the '98 Savage), and then I bought this here '95 CB1000 Honda:

This is the best bike for riding double I have ever owned.  I also tried to get a non-running 500 Ninja, but the guy would not take my low-ball offer on it.

I'm looking for another basket case / not running / distress sale bike, if you have one near Texas let me know.

Nice ride. Dual disc front, single disc rear, chain driven, oil-cooled...

There's definitely something to be said for trying other rides from time to time. I got a feeling you'll buy another Savage though eventually...two wheeled heroin for sure...  Roll Eyes

Have fun. Watch for sand in the twisties.  Wink

We can only be friends if you ride, no matter what type of iron horse you ride.

Does an aluminum horse count?  About 100 aluminum horses?

bobo,  i've heard the "can we just be friends" before, ya know, it just doesnt ever seem to work out.  yes sometimes theres some for "old times sake" sin involved, yet someone always feels cheated in the end.  it's better to get a savage as a "mistress"  then hey your still one of the gang having never really left. Roll Eyes

glad ya enjoy the new ride, it's always exciting to hear someone find a machine they really love to ride.

Are you sure you are going to know how to act on that bike with too many cylinders?

You act just like you do on a Savage.  Just faster.

I'm on the lookout for a mistress Savage, or savage mistress - no wait, I married one of those.

I passed on the one on ebay for $395, the one with the holy piston.  Probably should have picked it up. A mistress don't get much cheaper than that.  However my first Savage was at least running when I got it for $600.

Maybe I could pick it up, rent an apartment for it, and visit it on the side.

I was looking at that one myself, thought I could use it to do some testing on head work, a lot bigger piston, maybe try my hand at modifying the frame a little.  I was really wanting to try to put a 100mm piston from a DR 650 (overbore size for it that I say listed somewhere) which would take the Savage up to almost 800.  The problem seemed to be with the cylinder...would there be enough room for that large of a liner to fit in it?   I had emailed a couple of engine builders a while back who were willing to give it a shot.  That would be a fun bike if it were doable.
