Which way to turn mixture screw?

Recently I did the white spacer carb mod: reduced it to half thickness and then turned out the carb air idle mixture screw about 2 turns. Also did a slight adjustment on the idle speed screw. The 2004 Savage runs so much better at mid-speed and when cold. Also a much nicer throatier deceleration sound. I no longer get backfires when turning the machine off. However, I am now getting the odd mild backfire sometimes on deceleration and on some gear changes, which I rarely had before the mod.

Is there any fine tuning I could do to the air idle mixture screw to reduce this backfiring?

There's your answer... you should hear mine, every upshift, downshift, or deceleration, sounds like a war zone.  Cheesy Sure makes the normal people flinch...
