What is in a good Road Spares kit? Besides the fuses turn and brake lamps:

A road spare is something that (1) can fail and stop the bike from traveling and (2) can be replaced on the side of the road with the standard tool kit.

I also carry REAL tools, the stock ones tend to slip if you put real pressures on them. -WD

I also carry a spark plug, a headlight bulb, a tire patch kit (the kind with a CO2 inflator) as well as 2 tire irons in my tools, a handful of wire-ties, a roll of electrical tape, a tube of loctite, an assortment of nuts and bolts, and a can of fix-a-flat and a quart of 20w50 oil. For trips of several days or longer, I'll carry a spare drive belt, two spare tubes and a spare throttle cable.

Oh, and my AAA card.

The tools that came with the bike: http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=tech;action=display;num=1108327792
are stuffed inside the "toolbox".
But as WD suggested: replace them with propper tools.

All the rest mentioned , you need sadlebags or the like to carry them around.

Yes, I do carry all that stuff - at least for longer than simple day trips. For normal daily travels, I carry an original Leatherman tool, a CruzTools OutBackR M14 and a Leatherman Micra. Sometimes I have to add a trunk, or bag, etc. to carry stuff.

Funny those openend 10x12 and 14x17 wrenches!
In Europe the standard combinations are 10x8 and 13x17.
I also included a MicroLeatherman for those hard-to-do jobs like performing karakiri in times of deep deep depression Wink

Also, a pair of locking pincers for keeping things squeezed or for catching thingies when they fall into impossible-to-reach places .
And lots'n'lots of plastic tiedowns.
And tire repair spray.

And a 2fl.oz. hip flask.
I'm not driving, Officer, the bike's broke! 8)

I used to keep a large fork bag full of spares and tools on my downtubes. I thought it was pretty tough looking.
