Was out shopping this evening, drove by a bike crash. Motor officer, looked to be a county mounty. Hit by a tuner car. He looked shaken up but otherwise alright. I don't have much use for them usually (my bike isn't all that legal), but, I respect them for getting on a scoot everyday to try and keep me and mine safe.

So hoist a cold brew, soda, whatever for him and his kind. Hope we don't ever need them, but it's nice to know they are there.

There are always exceptions, but the few times I have interacted with Biker Cops I found them to be rather cool.

First was MoTown, about '68 or so, 4th of July.  A buddy and I went to see the fireworks show over the river.  Came in high and rode my Twinjet down the stairs to the riverfront.  After the event we were riding out with the pedestrians at pedestrian speed 'til we got back on the streets.  Broke free from the people and hit over 10,000 RPM accellerating away -- and heard the Biker Cop who was directing traffic yell at me:  "Wind it Out!"

Second and last time was in a field in Harbor City on my Enduro, practicing dirt maneuvers where I had medical help readily available.  Cop on a Harley rode over the dirt to us, very appoligetic, nodded to the apartment buildings overlooking, explained how She always called and he has to roust us.

And now I'm late for work....

I understand our officers in Arlington get a bike allowance to purchase what they want to ride.  Most have HDs, but a few have BMWs.  I bet they can catch whatever they want on the Bimmers.

Very decent guys.

Same here Sunny.  I ride from Garland to Las Colinas and use the HOV on 635 from 75 to 35E.  I see those guys daily and they almost always either nod or wave.
