I've picked up several riding mowers for next to nothing cause the owners couldn't crank them.  Bad safety switch every time - in the seat, clutch, or tranny (neutral).

Safety switches are in the same category as dull knives and unloaded guns.  "Feel good" measures only.  Safety is between the ears.

CONVENIENCE, however is another thing altogether.  My Savage switches haven't malfunctioned, so they're still there.

Yep, it's a matter of choice.  Some like the petc0ck, some like the switches...

Oops, "like the petc0ck" operation is all that I meant.  I certainly don't like how it helps in removing the tank.

[glow=red,2,300]A CRAZY IDEA IT WAS. [/glow]

SO,  sometimes ideas work, sometimes they don't.

appearance wasn't that great.
and the angle of the dangle didn't work.

with the original linkage it was a short throw to shift gears.  with the new shifter, the short throw at the bottom turned into a long throw at the top.
i would need a much shorter shifter and a foot clutch. so at this time it's not going to fly.  Angry

time for the next idea

Man talk about getting used to the saddle again. I sat on mine for 10 minutes the other day. Even without moving it was brutal. I may HAVE to get another bike. And that was BEFORE I started making the seat thinner by stitching a design into it.

Somehow, I don't think the rough riding bob-job is going to cut it anymore... :'(  :'(  :'(  And it is too heavily modded to do anything else with. Well, only one way to find out. If I ride it on the ash run, instead of the kid riding it or the truck hauling it, say something nice at my funeral... Grin
